Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; The article is approximately 4000-8000 words; uses a 12-point font; employs Times New Roman, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

  1. The article must be the result of research or scientific studies, interesting, and insightful.
  2. The topic of the article should be up-to-date, related to religious and social issues.
  3. The article should contain the title, author's name, affiliation, email, abstract, keywords, introduction, review of related literature, research methods, discussion, conclusion, and references. Non-research articles should be organized as follows: (a) Title, which must be concise and informative; (b) Full name of contributor(s) without academic title(s), email address written below the name, affiliation and affiliation address; (c) Abstract (150 - 200 words) clear and informative; (d) 3-5 Keywords which are well selected and closely related to the topic; (e) Introduction (without heading); (f) Body Text (subtitle when necessary); (g) Conclusion (and Suggestion); and (h) References.
  4. Article should be typed on A4-sized paper. For the title, it should be typed in bold, Times New Roman font style, 12 font size and single-spaced. For the content, use Times New Roman font style, 12 font size and one-half spaced. If the article contains arabic, type it by using Traditional Arabic font style with 14 font size.
  5. The title of the article should be typed in Indonesian and abstract in English
  6. Abstract shoud be typed by using Times New Roman font style, 11 font size and single-spaced, consists of 150-200 words and maximum 5 keywords.
  7. The article is approximately 20-35 pages.
  8. Margins: Top 4 cm, left 4 cm, bottom 3 cm and right 3 cm
  9. footnote references are typed by using Times New Roman font style, 10 font size and single-spaced.

  13. References are typed and sorted alphabetically, consist of the author's name (without title and last name should be written first), title (italics), city of publisher, the publisher's company and year of publication. 
  14. Example: Armstrong, K. A History of God. New York: Ballantine Books, 1994. 
  15. Madjid, Nurcholish. Khazanah Muslim intellectual. Jakarta: Bulan Bintang, 1994.
  16. The article should be sent at least on 15th of March  for the June issue and 15th of September for the December issue.
  17. There will be a cash as appreciation for the published article.

PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING CRETERIA

  1. The title of the article submitted to Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat should reflect a specific focus of study, based on researches--be they library or fieldwork researches--and thus the author can have a general statement and sub-title specifically confining the scope of study
  2. The article submitted should be based on research--be it library or fieldwork or other kinds of researches
  3. The article should present bibliography which entails primary sources--books, manuscripts, interviews, or observation--and updated secondary sources from books or peer reviewed journals
  4. The article should contain an argument/thesis/finding which contribute to scholarly discussion in a field of study which should clearly be mentioned and systematically presented in abstract, content, and conclusion
  5. The article should use good English, or at least can be understood; the author is fully responsible in fixing and editing English; the copy editor of Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat is responsible only for minor typos and understandable grammatical erros
  6. The style and format, including the structure of article, footnotes, bibliography, should follow those of Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat
